  3.      If you're FAX negotiation seems quite long, you may not be  connecting

  5. at  9600.  The extra time may be negotiating the fallback  speed  (7200  or

  7. 4800). FAX will fall-back if line conditions aren't optimum. Try calling at

  9. 7200 and 4800 sending the same page. See if the connect time is quicker. Is
  10.  
  11. the send time the same? You may find setting the slower speed, may actually
  12.  
  13. use less time, because it skips trying at the higher speed, and just  sends
  14.  
  15. the fax (so to speak).
